Max at the airport.
Returning to Florida had been a disaster for me. The first time I was supposed to fly my back went out on me.
A week later I was ready to fly out of Milwaukee. I gave Max a benedryl and an anti-anxiety pill--this was recommended by the vet--before I arrived at the airport I was concerned about my back and I wanted to lift Max as little as possible, so I strapped his kennel to my carryon with wheels. I also taped part of the netting on the kennel so Max couldn't bite through it. As soon as I arrived at the counter to check in, Max had pushed the tape off and chewed through the netting. The lady behind the counter gave me some tape, but it didn't stick very well. I sat down with him before going through the TSA. Max pushed through the netting. I took him out and he appeared to be very hyper. I took him outside to walk him, but he still was hyper. He ate grass like it was a meal. I finally stuck him back in the kennel, found someone with tape. I taped it up again. I finally reach the security checkpoint. I was relieved there was no line. I took off my shoes and jacket and placed them in two bins. I removed my computer, toiletries from the carryon and placed them in bins. While I placing everything in the bins I told people behind me to go ahead of me because it was going to take time. On TSA agent said bellowed, "Your not with anyone to help you." I guess they have a minimum speed limit and I was going to slow. I struggled to remove the kennel from the carryon. A TSA agent behind me barked, "step back to allow others to get through. Use the table behind you. I finally remove the kennel and set the carryon and kennel on the conveyor belt. By this time I was beginning to feel frazzled. I walked through the ex-ray booth. A sweet TSA young lady lead me to the area where they check my hands for any explosive materials. As I stuffed Max into his kennel, again he jumped out and began walking away. Everyone was in a tizzy. I caught him and stuffed him back in the kennel. I asked another young TSA lady if they had tape. She found some and I taped the kennel again. I began to shed tears because I was so overwhelmed with the TSA agents rudeness and Max's hyperactivity. By the time I reached the gate I cried. Two people came up to me and asked if I was OK. I told them what happened and they agreed the TSA agents were very rude. Max began to bark. I made the decision at this point that I couldn't fly for 3 hours with Max so I walked out of the airport with tears spilling out of the corners of my eyes. Needless to say, I drove down to Florida. It took me 4 days, but there was less stress.
